STATEMENT FROM MONROE GOP CHAIRMAN PATRICK REILLY
Last night the Monroe County Legislature convened for the new term with one job, to elect a new President. For the first time in over thirty years, the Democrats in the County Legislature voted to adjourn the meeting on the first day of session rather than accomplishing what needed to be done to allow the business of our county to move forward. Republicans voted in unison to continue the meeting until a new president was elected, and continue to stand united and ready to get to work. However, if the extremists and self-proclaimed socialists have already taken the Democrat Majority hostage, there may be no way out for the reasonable members of their Party. This situation is unfortunate for the Monroe County Legislature, democracy, and the residents of Monroe County.
“After having 2 months to prepare, Democrats in the County Legislature failed to elect a President last night. Every Republican showed up ready to do the people's business, but all the Democrats showed is their dysfunction.”, said Monroe County Republican Party Chairman Patrick Reilly.
